Start with what you can see. Standing water, a wet ceiling or soaked flooring after a leak, a burst pipe or a storm is water damage restoration: the water comes out and the building is dried. If it’s mostly the carpet, see wet carpet drying. If you can see or smell mould, often weeks after the water, see mould removal.
The pipe itself, or any plumbing, is a job for a licensed plumber. The restoration business will tell you what it finds and quote before it starts.
